The Friendly Food Club runs fun, free, friendly, food focused workshops with people of all ages and abilities from different social, ethnic and religious backgrounds in local communities in Dorset.\n\nPopular workshops include Family After School Cookery, Food Bank Plus, Meet Cook and Eat, Baking Buddies, Inter-generational Cooking, Care & Support and Unity Cafe. Our focus is always on working within the community.\n\nAll the informal workshops are a chance for people to make new friends within their community by learning some basic cooking skills or preparing, cooking and eating a meal together.\n\nThe practical workshops help people to learn and develop their cooking skills with easy to follow recipes. The focus is to have fun as well as to help increase people's knowledge of food and nutrition, food hygiene and safe working practices. Several workshops enable participants to gain a new qualification such as Food Safety & Hygiene certificates.\n\nProjects might include shopping trips to the local market or supermarket, planting vegetables in a community garden, menu planning and how to avoid food waste.\n\nEnvironmental issues and animal welfare concerns and an appreciation of where and how our food is produced are embedded in the practical workshops.\n\nThe Friendly Food Club also runs community lunch and dinner clubs, often bringing lonely, vulnerable and otherwise isolated people together to help improve their daily lives.\n\nThe Friendly Food Club works with local housing providers, the Skills Funding Agency, Dorset Community Action and many other partners delivering successful projects throughout Dorset, Wiltshire and Hampshire.
