Aggie Weston’s provides pastoral support to serving members of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and their families. It's vision is that all of its beneficiary group should be "living life in all its fullness” which means with physical, emotional and spiritual health and enjoying strong relationships. Pastoral support is defined as "listening, encouraging, comforting and supporting; offering practical help where possible and signposting to more specialist advice when appropriate."
Aggie Weston's employs about 30 Pastoral Workers (PWs), covering most RN and RM bases. Normally working alongside Naval Chaplains, PWs engage in practical support activity (for example through facilitating coffee lounges or toddlers' groups) but their main aim if to be in amongst the beneficiary group offering a non-judgmental ear to listen when someone feels the need to talk.
As a Christian charity, Aggie Weston's staff are by God's love and seek to demonstrate their faith through sharing this love and compassion with those who may need it. Its services are freely available to those of any faith (or none) and irrespective of lifestyle choices.
