About Nuclear Restoration Services
Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, responsible for safely decommissioning nuclear sites across the UK and restoring them for future generations. Our work includes the largest environmental clean-up and demolition project in Scotland at the former centre of fast reactor research and development, Dounreay. We are also responsible for 11 first and second-generation nuclear sites at Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Hunterston B, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, as well as two reactor research sites at Harwell and Winfrith. In addition to our nuclear decommissioning mission, NRS operates a hydro-electric power station at Maentwrog. On 1 April 2026, Hunterston B joined NRS as the first advanced gas-cooled reactor (AGR) site to transfer from EDF for decommissioning. Hinkley Point B will follow in autumn 2026, with Dungeness B, Torness, Heysham 1 & 2, and Hartlepool set to join NRS as they are defueled over the next decade.
