Vimeo is looking for an ambitious lawyer to tackle a wide range of cutting-edge matters arising from user-generated content hosted on Vimeo, including issues relating to intermediary liability, copyrighted content, and user safety. You’ll work with our Trust & Safety and Engineering teams to evaluate and ensure compliance with a dynamic and developing legal landscape governing user-generated content.

What you’ll do:

Provide legal advice on global legislative, regulatory and other developments relating to intermediary liability, copyright protection, user-generated content, marketplaces, user safety, and child safety issues. Monitor developments in global regulations and provide proactive guidance on regulatory trends, risks, and opportunities. Handle responses to U.S. and international law enforcement requests, regulatory information requests, and required reporting. Advise operations teams on legal questions around content removals, including unlawful content and community guidelines violations. Develop and improve scalable training materials, macros, and workflows for legal issues and escalations, including partnering with our Trust & Safety teams to update and translate internal policies (such as our Community Guidelines) into actionable processes. Organize and lead cross-functional teams to implement new compliance initiatives. 

Skills and knowledge you should possess:

5+ years of legal experience, including government, in-house and/or law firm experience advising technology companies. Working knowledge of legal issues relating to platform liability, including the DMCA, DSA, and EU Copyright Directive. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve ambitious goals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High attention to detail, influencing and problem resolution skills. 

Targeted Base Salary Range: $122,400.00 to $187,000.00

The base salary range listed above is for candidates located in the U.S., including the New York City metro area.
