Who you are

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in technical and desktop support within a corporate setting is essential
  • 4+ years of technical experience with desktop support
  • 3+ years of experience administering a VDI environment with Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Advanced understanding of operating systems
  • Advanced understanding of network administration
  • Advanced understanding of desktop virtualization via VDI/Azure Virtual Desktop environment
  • Advanced understanding of the OSI model
  • Advanced understanding of TCP/IP principals
  • Advanced understanding of computer viruses
  • Advanced understanding of security and protocols
  • Proficient in Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop with the ability to create, troubleshoot, and modify virtual machines
  • Intermediate-level knowledge of networking concepts including DNS and DHCP
  • Proficiency in using Active Directory to manage users and groups at a Windows Administrator level
  • Working knowledge of PowerShell commands
  • Competency with Azure portal, Azure Command Line Interface, PowerShell, and REST API to configure host pools, create application groups, assign users, and publish resources
  • Microsoft 365 Certified Fundamentals 900 (MS-900) preferred
  • Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate 104 (AZ-104) and/or Virtual Desktop Specialty 140 (AZ-140) preferred
  • Experience with SaaS and DaaS cloud-based services
  • Ability to receive a favorable Interim and adjudicated final Department of Defense background investigation
  • Requires Department of Defense security clearance


What the job involves

  • Oversee VDI/Azure Virtual Desktop integration while supporting the AVD environment
  • Act as the primary liaison with the VDI/AVD host provider
  • Collaborate with users, vendors, and other technical staff members on the isolation and resolution of ongoing system problems and enhancements
  • Troubleshoot AVD Logs for efficient problem resolution
  • Provide training to IT colleagues on Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Monitor VDI/AVD usage and performance
  • Utilize Azure Monitor to access the health of AVD and to gain end-to-end observability of applications, infrastructure, and network performance
  • Design, deploy, configure, and patch Azure Virtual Desktop environments based on organizational requirements
  • Build gold/parent images for deployment across the environment
  • Serve as project lead for key initiatives related to VDI, AVD, and Microsoft patchwork
  • Implement and manage virtual machine images, including OS configurations and application installations
  • Participate in developing IT best practices, policies, processes, and procedures for VDI environment
