Remote Backend Engineer Job in United States Underdog Fantasy

Who you are

• 3+ years of experience building microservices heavy backend systems and APIs on a cloud environment
• Experience building and scaling backend systems, designing APIs for external and internal applications
• Excellent communication skills, ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS
• Proficiency with Go, C++, Java, or other programming languages (at least 2)
• Intermediate proficiency with SQL
• Experience with DevOps practices such as CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools

Desirables

• Strong interest in sports
• Prior experience in the sports betting industry
• Experience developing production systems in Rust

What the job involves

• Develop and deploy internal APIs and workflows to enable integration between internal services
• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices for efficient data retrieval and processing
• Develop new backend systems for scalability, fault tolerance, and performance
• Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and data scientists to understand requirements and build technical solutions
• Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging mechanisms for system health
• Lead technical initiatives and drive results in a dynamic environment
• Lead code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and evangelize best practices
