Requirements

  • 10+ years of business development sales or government relations experience in student transportation transit or a closely related public-sector-facing industry
  • Existing active relationships with Superintendents COOs CFOs CBOs Transportation Directors and/or state transportation or education officials
  • Demonstrated success managing long multi-stakeholder public-sector sales cycles and competitive government RFP processes including oral/interview presentations
  • Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to diagnose district pressures and position Zūm CMX credibly
  • High degree of personal integrity and discretion with the ability to navigate procurement ethics rules and gift/hospitality policies
  • Existing membership or active involvement in state pupil transportation associations or national bodies
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Day to day

  • Lead new-business growth across a defined state or regional territory by building and executing strategic account and government-relations plans
  • Build and maintain deep relationships with school district leaders and state education or transportation officials through conferences district visits dinners and other in-person engagements
  • Identify and qualify opportunities by tracking district budget cycles contract expirations RFP calendars and policy or funding shifts
  • Support competitive public-sector RFP processes by assembling internal teams coaching written responses and preparing oral presentations
  • Serve as a trusted advisor for named accounts after close ensuring smooth handoff to Operations and protecting the relationship through renewal
  • Represent Zūm with transportation associations school board associations and government affairs forums to strengthen brand credibility
