Requirements
- High school diploma or GED plus 3 years related experience
- Associate degree in a related subject may substitute for 2 years of experience
- Experience interviewing individuals with disabilities including cognitive or mental health disabilities
- Experience gathering information from multiple sources including documents and witnesses
- Attention to detail and understanding of client confidentiality
- Valid CA driver’s license and willingness to drive
- Ability to travel up to 60% of the time
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree
- Knowledge of disability benefits programs
- Financial or medical records review
- Investigations or auditing background
- Case management systems experience
- Sensitivity to diverse communities
- Bilingual ability
- Disability or caregiver experience
Day to day
- Conduct site reviews and investigations of SSA representative payees to detect misuse mismanagement or fraud of beneficiary income
- Review financial records interview clients witnesses and stakeholders and document findings in clear accurate reports that meet SSA standards
- Provide corrective action plans technical assistance referrals outreach education and training to support compliance and protect vulnerable beneficiaries
