Overview

As a Data Scientist in our R&D team you will apply advanced data science and NLP techniques to develop innovative legal research solutions.

You will play a key role in our interdisciplinary team to translate complex legal information challenges into data-driven tools that can be integrated into the vLex product portfolio.

Responsibilities:

Work independently and with others in the R&D team to design, develop and refine prototypes, ensuring they align with project goals and can be transitioned to product-ready solutions by our product and engineering teams.Devise data-driven solutions to complex problems, with a particular focus on using large language models for information retrieval and other relevant tasksKeep abreast of the latest developments in LLMs and data science, contributing to the wider team’s innovation effort by sharing and exploring new research, techniques and methodologies.Assist in the management of the R&D codebase and datasets, ensuring high standards of data quality, privacy and security are maintained. Engage directly with customers to deeply understand their needs and the problems they face, applying this insight to inform our R&D programme.

Qualifications and Experience:

Masters-level degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related fieldExperience in a data science-focused role, with a strong emphasis on natural language processing and the application of LLMs Experience of working within the legal sector is desirable but not essentialStrong problem solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment.Ability to convey technical concepts and ideas to a diverse range of stakeholders.
