Who you are

  • Programmer or developer with a passion for open-source software
  • Experience developing and deploying software using Linux
  • Hands-on experience with Linux software packaging (Snaps, debs, charms, rocks, PIP, containers)
  • Understanding of software packaging issues and trends in the Linux ecosystem
  • Contributor to open-source communities, software, or documentation
  • Engaging and vivacious speaker and presenter
  • Ability to work effectively, tactfully, empathetically, and confidently with different perspectives
  • Ability to build trust, relationships, and confidence
  • Willingness to travel globally twice a year for company events and other events

Desirables

  • Experience in developer advocacy or community roles
  • Familiarity with Ubuntu and Canonical ecosystem products



What the job involves

  • Take part in product meetings, contributing insight and expertise
  • Maintain conversations with developer community members on various platforms like IRC, social media, forums, and meet-ups
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other teams to establish commonality and consistent approaches
  • Help solve technical problems identified by users or colleagues
  • Contribute to technical documentation to meet developer users' needs
  • Work on technical articles, presentations, or workshops
  • Identify new opportunities and directions for improving the developer experience
  • Present at conferences, meetups, or technical events
