- Technical background with the ability to write code against an API read architecture and speak confidently with engineers
- Track record of technical writing that developers read and share
- Experience building or growing a healthy developer community
- Understanding of how developers evaluate and adopt tools including AI mediated discovery
- Point of view on realtime infrastructure AI development patterns or developer experience
- Familiarity with orchestration frameworks such as Temporal and Vercel
- Experience using AI as part of research writing structuring and experimentation
- Strong cross-functional skills across marketing product and engineering

Day to day
- Own Ably's technical education programme by writing quickstarts and guides that help developers solve real AI problems with Ably
- Build a credible presence in the developer communities that matter by contributing real knowledge engaging in technical debates and creating playbooks that help others participate authentically
- Aggregate developer intelligence from communities events and content to surface recurring problems objections and gaps that should influence product docs DevEx and sales priorities
- Work with DevEx and engineering to improve documentation quality so content is accurate LLM-parseable and aligned with how developers actually implement Ably
