Requirements
- At least 5 years' railway knowledge with traction and rolling stock technical experience
- Extensive knowledge of ETCS and electrical systems
- Degree HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline
- Ideally Chartered or Incorporated Membership or working towards it
- Good knowledge of railway rolling stock organisation and players
- Knowledge of standards and legislation
- Knowledge of rail leasing and commercial environment desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of asset management requirements
- Ability to understand engineering instructions drawings and schematics
- Ability to understand vehicle maintenance and overhaul requirements
- Understanding of whole life costs of trains and systems
- Knowledge of remote condition monitoring systems in rail
- Awareness of infrastructure electrification and train maintenance facilities desirable
- Experience in customer and stakeholder engagement project management supplier liaison and commercial awareness

Day to day
- Act as the technical expert for ETCS and key train electrical systems across traction and rolling stock
- Lead investigations into failures warranty claims and incident reports while attending sites and depots when needed
- Partner on complex projects manage consultants and suppliers and support strategic fleet solutions and product development
