Remote Engineer II - Virtualization Job in Austin, TX CrowdStrike

Who you are

• 3+ years of experience in a large scale production environment
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a computer-related field
• Availability for occasional business travel for group meetings
• Effective teamwork with cross-functional groups across divisions worldwide
• Ability to work with distributed teams in multiple time zones
• Meticulous attention to detail and timely decision-making ability
• Self-learning capabilities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
• Experience with Chef, Python, Go, etc., is a plus

What the job involves

• Play an important role in engineering and maintaining solutions for our virtualization environments
• Support in Open Source Virtualization and VMWare administration for thousands of virtual machines
• Perform Linux engineering and administration, monitoring, maintenance, and operation of a production environment
• Troubleshoot server hardware issues
• Automate common tasks, deploy with an IaaS model, and utilize chef or similar
• Participate in on-call rotation with other team members
• Write simple to moderately complex scripts and programs for automation, tools, frameworks, dashboards, and alarms using languages such as Python, Perl, PHP, JavaScript, Go
