Who you are

• 5+ years experience building scalable backend or real-time data systems
• 2+ years experience as an Engineering Manager
• Experience operating and deploying large-scale distributed systems including Kubernetes experience
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well cross-functionally
• Ability to work with others to create pragmatic solutions - and then evolve and generalize them
• Confidence to dive deep into the technical details and challenge designs or solutions

Desirables

• Experience in touching the whole cloud infrastructure stack
• Experience with data warehouses like Druid BigQuery or Redshift
• Prior experience working in the Safety domain
• Strong moral compass

What the job involves

• Supporting a team of talented 8-10 Engineers including a Staff Engineer
• Owning our in-house real-time abuse detection platform written in Python and Rust
• Working with Product Data Science and ML to develop reusable services or architectures
• Building out the signals datasets and databases to support our informational needs
• Expanding and deploying internal APIs to combat abusive content
• Maintain operations for our infrastructure on Kubernetes
• Move quickly to respond to the moving target of abuse on Discord
