Requirements

  • Experience with material handling products or an engineering position
  • Experience from backgrounds such as automotive, roadside recovery, agricultural, REME, construction equipment, PSV, HGV, LGV, or plant
  • Ability to respond to breakdowns
  • Good customer service and ability to build rapport
  • Shows initiative and supports others
  • Achieve agreed targets, such as response time
  • Completion of documentation to company standards
  • Liaise with parts team for appropriate stock levels
  • Experience with mobile machinery, such as brakes, steering, wheels, lift chains
  • Experience in electrical drive and control systems, diesel and LPG engines, and common drive-trains
  • Knowledge of hydraulics
  • Full UK driving license
  • City and Guilds in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering related field
  • Diagnostic computer skills
  • Qualified in related field or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Experience in electrical / mechanical engineering in heavy goods, plant machinery, or automotive

Day to day

  • We are recruiting for a Mechanical Handling Field Service Engineer to join our East Field Service Engineers. The position is full time and we would love you to work within our Service Department to maintain, repair, service and modify a range of other material handling equipment. Every challenge is new and different and we would really welcome your help.
  • You will be responsible for servicing gas, diesel and electric powered forklift trucks using check sheets to check brakes, lifting assembly, and steering in working order. This includes changing oil and filters as necessary, and conducting thorough examinations pending qualifications. Preventative maintenance such as lubricating steering and lifting equipment will also be part of your tasks.
  • You will handle battery maintenance by checking voltages and fluid levels of forklift trucks using meters and hydrometers. Responding to breakdowns and ensuring customer service by building rapport and dealing promptly with customer downtime will be essential to keep businesses moving.
