Who you are

  • High school diploma or higher required
  • Must have completed an initial term of enlistment in the military, from any branch, without significant breaks in employment
  • Prior paralegal experience is not required, but experience in any of the following categories is desirable: paralegal, personnel/human resources, or law enforcement
  • Strong drafting and proofreading abilities with attention to detail in grammar and punctuation
  • Work from home, but must come equipped with a modern computer and smartphone (both less than 4 years old) with working webcam, working headphones with microphone, and high-speed internet connection
  • Strong sense of introspection, responsibility, and accountability
  • Excellent time management skills, providing a full day's work and prioritizing the firm's needs
  • Strong problem-solving skills; takes initiative to navigate emotional and complex situations with professionalism and tact
  • Possesses exceptional organizational skills, with an eye for detail that ensures accuracy in all administrative duties
  • Strong, verifiable references from previous supervisors who can speak to relatable and specific experience and work history

What the job involves

  • Ensure you are fully equipped with the necessary technology from day one to operate in a fully remote law firm, demonstrating a proactive approach to your role
  • Ensure a distraction-free, camera-ready professional appearance and positive attitude from your home office
  • Handle sensitive information with utmost confidentiality, maintaining clear and responsible communication channels within and outside the firm
  • Coordinate appointments across time zones and manage your calendar and your attorney’s calendar to optimize use of time
  • Move cases forward with a phone-first approach with military senior enlisted leaders, commanders, and legal advisors, followed by accurate and succinct emails, always keeping your attorney in the loop
  • Keep clients informed and encouraged with routine monthly updates and responses to all client inquiries within 24 business hours
  • Assist your case attorney and take accurate notes during witness interviews
  • Assist your case attorney by drafting character letter templates, standard forms for clients to sign, discovery requests, and exhibits.
