Harbor is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Team Lead – Business Intelligence to join our Financial Systems consulting team. This role combines people leadership with hands-on delivery, managing a team of BI Developers while actively contributing to client-facing engagements. The Team Lead will play a critical role in delivering high-quality financial reporting, analytics, and data-driven insights for our law firm clients. This individual will ensure strong alignment between client needs, internal standards, and technical best practices, while fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.

We enable our clients to leverage their systems and data more effectively, helping them operate efficiently, strengthen client relationships, and improve profitability. This is a full-time, fully remote position that can be based anywhere in the United States.
The Team Lead – Business Intelligence is responsible for leading a team of four BI Developers, balancing approximately 20% leadership responsibilities with 80% hands-on delivery and client utilization. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in law firm financial systems, reporting frameworks, and BI tools, along with proven leadership experience. This role requires a strong combination of technical capability, client engagement skills, and team management.

Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & ManagementLead, mentor, and develop a team of four Business Intelligence DevelopersAssign, prioritize, and monitor workloads to ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputsConduct performance management activities, including coaching, feedback, and evaluationsFoster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture
Client Delivery & Utilization (80%)Act as a hands-on contributor across BI projects, including report development, dashboard creation, semantic/tabular model design, and DAX measure developmentPartner with clients and internal stakeholders to gather, refine, and translate business requirements into technical solutionsDeliver high-quality reporting and analytics solutions tailored to law firm operational needsEnsure adherence to BI development standards, data governance practices, and documentation requirements
Financial Reporting & AnalyticsDesign and develop reporting solutions for key law firm financial metrics, including:Revenue, profitability, and realizationBilling, collections, and Work in Progress (WIP)Timekeeper performance and utilizationTranslate complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable, well-designed reports and dashboardsImprove reporting efficiency through automation and optimized data models
Technical OversightProvide guidance on BI tools and technologies (e.g., Power BI, Fabric, SQL, data lakes)Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across all reporting solutionsReview and validate deliverables produced by team membersSupport best practices in semantic/tabular modeling, DAX, performance tuning, and solution design
Process Improvement & InnovationIdentify opportunities to enhance reporting frameworks and analytics capabilitiesDrive continuous improvement initiatives within the BI functionStay current with emerging BI tools, trends, and law firm industry practices

Qualifications:7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or a related field2+ years of experience leading or managing technical teamsProven experience delivering financial reporting solutions, ideally within law firms or professional servicesStrong understanding of law firm financial concepts, including billing, collections, realization, and profitabilityDemonstrated ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on deliveryBachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or relevant experience
Technical SkillsAdvanced proficiency in Power BI/Fabric, including semantic models, DAX measure development, and well-designed reports and dashboardsStrong SQL and dimensional data modeling expertise, with the ability to design performant, maintainable datasets for reporting and analyticsExperience with law firm financial systems (e.g., Elite, Aderant, or similar)Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processesStrong sense of report design, including visual aesthetics, usability, layout, and functional alignment with business workflowsFamiliarity with BI security concepts, including row-level security, workspace permissions, and controlled data access
