Who you are

• Minimum of 5 years' relative industry engineering experience.
• Minimum of 3 years' professional experience in machine learning with a focus on NLP and transformer models.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Skillful in deploying ML models in production environments effectively hosted on AWS.
• Proven ability to translate ML capabilities into practical and impactful product features.
• Proficient in balancing theoretical knowledge with practical real-world solutions.
• Adept at collaboration within diverse teams to integrate solutions that address user and business needs.
• Adaptable and eager to stay current with rapidly evolving ML technologies and apply them effectively.

Desirables

• Experience with ASR and TTS systems
• Experience with low-latency ML model deployment

What the job involves

• Evaluate and implement models on both cloud-based and on-device applications for MapGPT's natural language understanding.
• Enhance the integration of models into MapGPT to promote actionable natural conversations.
• Develop and optimize machine learning-based recommendation systems for suggesting relevant points of interest and routes.
• Enhance and manage our MLOps pipeline for training evaluating and deploying models across various contexts.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure alignment with user needs and Mapbox’s location intelligence ecosystem.
• Stay updated and implement new NLP and ML techniques to improve team capabilities and product experience.
