Remote Optical Systems Project Engineer Job in Carlsbad, CA Viasat

Who you are

• 5+ years designing, analyzing and prototyping free space optical communication systems
• 5+ years performing system modelling using commercial software tools such as MATLAB, Ansys, STK
• 3+ years leading FSO system development and production
• Experience with Agile development framework and practices
• Proven management of multi-disciplinary teams over diverse geographical locations
• Ability to lead proposal efforts and participate in ongoing business development
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics or related technical discipline
• US Citizenship required
• Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or ability to obtain
• Ability to travel up to 25%

Desirables

• Master's or PhD degree in a related technical discipline
• Military Satellite Communications architecture experience
• Experience with Government systems and service acquisition
• Active TS/SCI clearance

• Craft, implement, document, test, troubleshoot and deploy Free Space Optic communications solutions
• Diagnose and resolve sophisticated problems, provide critical technical support, and maintain engineering skills
• Lead a spectrum of internal development, capital, and contract programs across a variety of related technology
• Engage with multiple customer groups to drive execution and support the growth of the business through technology and proposal development
