Remote Senior Full Stack Engineer Job in Carlsbad, CA Viasat

Who you are

• 5+ years of related experience with software development in building distributed applications with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline or equivalent years of experience
• Experience with Web development (React, Node.js and Typescript), complex SQL, data engineering techniques (ETL, ELT) and cloud technologies (AWS preferred)
• Experience working in teams and have a high tolerance for ambiguity
• Ability to work with remotely distributed agile teams with a high degree of self-motivation and independently
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to drive interaction with customers, peers, product and program managers, systems engineers, product designers and other partners
• Experience with algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis and software design
• Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with a strong sense of ownership and drive
• Travel up to 10%

Desirables

• Familiarity with running software services at scale
• Expertise in Scrum methodologies
• Broad range of technology interests including computer and system architecture, web applications, performance analysis, distributed systems design, testing and verification technologies, data processing, and networking
• Prior experience with release management, product design, implementation, and testing
• Technical and software engineering background in areas like cloud computing, enterprise computing, servers, networking, and virtualization technology
• Expertise in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems

• Design, write, and deliver software services for commercial aircraft
• Provide front end interfaces for airline passengers to access internet and in-flight entertainment
• Influence new designs, architectures, and methods for large-scale distributed systems
• Own development and service implementation from inception to completion, including on-call duties in a follow-the-sun model
