Requirements

  • B.S. M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering physics or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years developing optical systems with focus on stray light analysis optical coatings and component procurement
  • Expertise in non-sequential ray tracing and stray light software such as FRED or LightTools
  • Experience with thin-film coating design software such as TFCalc Essential Macleod or OptiLayer
  • Proven record of writing technical specifications and managing vendors through hardware delivery
  • Hands-on metrology experience with spectrophotometers scatterometers ellipsometers or interferometers
  • Proficiency in Python MATLAB or similar for data analysis automation and vendor test data processing
  • Ability to obtain security clearance strongly preferred

Day to day

  • Lead stray light analysis for complex infrared optical assemblies using non-sequential ray tracing and rigorous modeling
  • Specify custom optical coatings surface treatments and spectral filters to improve transmission reflectance and durability
  • Partner with vendors optical designers and mechanical engineers to validate components optimize baffles and advance coating technologies
