Requirements

  • 8+ years administering business-critical production databases
  • Strong hands-on Microsoft SQL Server expertise including installation configuration upgrades patching backups recovery security and tuning
  • Proven experience supporting high-volume OLTP systems and large datasets in 24x7 environments
  • Advanced knowledge of HA/DR including Always On Availability Groups clustering replication log shipping and tested restores
  • Expert T-SQL skills with strong understanding of execution plans indexing statistics locking isolation levels and query optimisation
  • Experience with database observability baselining and troubleshooting using native and third-party monitoring tools
  • Ability to automate operational tasks using scripting source control and CI/CD pipelines
  • Hands-on experience managing databases in Azure or AWS including managed services resilient architecture monitoring and cost control
  • Experience with SingleStore or a distributed SQL platform or ability to quickly build expertise
  • Strong understanding of data modelling schema design partitioning lifecycle management and OLTP versus analytical workloads
  • Excellent knowledge of secure database operation privacy auditing and change management in a regulated environment
  • Experience working effectively with software engineers platform teams and information security professionals across distributed teams

  • Manage and optimise Microsoft SQL Server and cloud database platforms supporting customer-facing and internal systems
  • Drive availability performance security automation and lifecycle management for transactional and analytical workloads
  • Collaborate with engineering infrastructure and security teams to troubleshoot incidents improve resilience and modernise delivery
