Who you are

• Experience scaling a codebase to a large number of users and engineers
• Track record of successful projects utilizing Typescript and Node.js or another backend technology
• Experience writing scalable, performant server-side code
• A leader, willing to take ownership for the success of the team
• Outstanding problem-solving skills and ability to communicate solutions clearly
• Strong background of successfully mentoring engineers
• Enjoys building a collaborative atmosphere to create solutions to complex problems
• 7+ years in a software development role
• 5+ years experience with Node.js or another backend technology
• 3+ years experience leading and implementing complex designs
• Experience with TypeScript is preferred
• Experience with a system deployed in an AWS environment is preferred

What the job involves

• Own and drive business-critical product areas including live video streaming, scorekeeping, fan experiences, and team management throughout our backend services
• Develop and maintain scalable, robust, and efficient backend services
• Lead projects Gameday team projects by collaborating with EM, PM, Design, QA, and other engineers across the company
• Drive changes to our API and SDK to facilitate server/client communication
• Lead architectural decisions to ensure productivity + efficiency as our codebase grows
• Improve existing systems' performance, reliability, scalability, and develop new features
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Ensure system security and data privacy compliance
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge
• Create and maintain technical documentation for reference and reporting
