Remote Staff Data Engineer Job in United States Airbnb

Who you are

• 9+ years of industry experience with a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in CS/EE
• Or equivalent experience
• Or 6+ years of experience with a PhD
• Experience collaborating with various teams (client, backend, ML, analytics, product, business partners)
• Deep expertise with modeling data for reporting
• Experience designing and deploying high performance systems with reliable monitoring and logging
• Work across team boundaries to establish data architecture
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL
• Strong expertise with Java / Scala / Spark
• Experience operating on data at the petabyte scale
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

What the job involves

• Own critical data assets for Marketplaces and Competitive Intelligence with high autonomy
• Collaborate across teams to align on data and reporting requirements
• Architect and productionize batch and real-time data systems supporting Airbnb Guests, Hosts, and business or sales teams
• Ensure quality, performance, and stability of data systems using quality systems and monitoring
• Design long-term data models for optimal storage, retrieval, and critical product and business needs
• Extract data requirements from product specs to develop scalable and flexible systems
• Build relationships with partner engineering teams to cover backend/client, data science, analytics, and ML needs.
