Who you are

  • Must care deeply about functional written communication
  • Should have technical writing skills with a programmer's mindset or a programmer with documentation experience
  • Requires experience in software development contexts understands Linux, command line, application deployment, Git
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed
  • Should hold a BSc/BA degree or equivalent
  • Ability to travel twice a year for events is necessary

What the job involves

  • Create, maintain, and improve software documentation
  • Work with engineering team members to help them make effective documentation contributions
  • Influence the development of the product as an expert user with significant input on its function and design
  • Engage with user communities to ensure that documentation meets their needs
  • Help standardize the structure, presentation, style and language of content across products
  • Collaborate with documentation peers to advance documentation practices at Canonical
