Who you are

  • Cares deeply about functional written communication.
  • Has experience in technical writing or programming with excellent documentation output.
  • Knowledgeable in Linux, command line operations, application deployment, system management, and Git.
  • Demonstrates technical curiosity and expertise in software technology.
  • Has experience in community engagement and open-source software contributions.
  • Holds a BSc/BA degree or equivalent.
  • Able to travel twice a year for team events.

What the job involves

  • Create, maintain, and improve software documentation.
  • Work with engineering team members to help them make effective documentation contributions.
  • Influence the development of the product as an expert user, sharing key insights on function and design.
  • Engage with user communities to ensure documentation meets their needs.
  • Encourage and support community engagement in documentation efforts.
  • Help standardize the structure, presentation, style and language of content across products.
  • Collaborate with documentation peers to advance documentation practices at Canonical.
