Who you are

  • 5+ years of experience in researching, planning, writing, and editing documentation for software products
  • Experience working with a 'Docs as Code' workflow
  • Experience leading content initiatives and working with cross-functional teams
  • Previous technical writing experience for developers, IT operations, and DevOps audiences
  • Team-player with experience working well remotely within geographically distributed teams
  • Excellent content planning and organization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal English language skills
  • Ability to quickly learn complex concepts and technologies and clearly explain them
  • Experience with writing SaaS documentation
  • Experience with creating documentation in an Agile development environment
  • Experience with a version control system such as Git, SVN, CVS
  • Experience with authoring and publishing tools like Markdown, HTML, CSS

Desirables

  • Open-source participation
  • Proficiency on Linux command-line
  • Familiarity with coding languages
  • Experience with developer-focused platforms like Terraform, AWS, Jenkins, Netlify, GitHub, MongoDB, Twilio, Docker
  • Experience in a start-up environment



What the job involves

  • Write and refine product documentation that is accurate and effective
  • Collaborate with engineers, UX, product managers, and other technical writers
  • Independently research, plan, lead, and deliver content initiatives
  • Work with UX to create and review UI text and error messages
  • Become an expert user and test procedures and workflows
  • Provide feedback to product development teams
  • Monitor and address community feedback through channels like Slack and GitHub
  • Participate in agile development team meetings
