 The Financial Controller will play a key role in managing and overseeing the financial operations of Polar Insight. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a hands-on approach to handle the day-to-day financial tasks and support the overall financial health of the company. As a remote, part-time role, the ideal candidate will be self-motivated organised and capable of working independently.  Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements including balance sheets income statements and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and regulations.  Develop manage and oversee the company’s budget. Provide financial forecasts and projections to guide strategic planning and decision-making.  Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable accounts receivable payroll and general ledger maintenance. Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures.  Monitor cash flow to ensure the company can meet its financial obligations. Manage banking relationships and optimise the use of available cash.  Analyse financial data to identify trends variances and opportunities for cost reduction or revenue enhancement. Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to support business decisions.  Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data. Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.  Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and compliance with UK tax regulations. Manage relationships with external tax advisors and auditors.  Support the development and execution of the company’s financial strategy. Provide financial insights and guidance to the management team.  Stay informed about changes in financial regulations and ensure the company’s practices are compliant. Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and other regulatory reviews.  Supervise and mentor accounting staff if applicable. Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment within the finance team.  Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and software specifically Xero and ideally Zoho One. Continuously improve financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
