Who you are

  • Proven experience in a business development capacity delivering National sales strategies, ideally within the social housing repairs and maintenance sector
  • Experience leading, preparing and managing bids with values ranging from £3.5 Million to over £10 Million per annum
  • Experience producing winning proposals that score top marks for quality while identifying and justifying financial risks
  • Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Experience building and managing internal and external relationships to ensure fluid communication
  • Experience of TUPE management within bids
  • People management and leadership experience
  • Current knowledge of a recognised bid management process and proven skills in estimating/financial solutions, ideally for social housing bids
  • Ability to travel Nationally as required with occasional overnight stays
  • Experience of working in both the public and private sectors
  • Experience reporting statistics monthly to board level
  • Right to work in the UK

What the job involves

  • Focus on developing Repairs and Maintenance, Asset Management, and Capital/Planned works opportunities in the social housing sector
  • Provide leadership and direction to the commercial team on strategic opportunities, bidding activity, and supporting operational teams during mobilisation
  • Ensure tender methodology is effectively communicated nationally to operational/mobilisation teams and that established policies, processes, and procedures are followed
  • Represent Mears in competitive dialogue environments to secure term R&M, Asset Management, and Capital/Planned works contracts
  • Report commercial, financial and risk considerations of bids/contracts to the board on a monthly basis
  • Act as an ambassador for the Group, engaging with stakeholders at the highest level and presenting keynote speeches at industry conferences and other public events
