Requirements
- BS with 8 years' experience MS with 5 years' experience or PhD with 2 years' experience in a related field
- Professional experience as a software developer software engineer or verification engineer in a collaborative team environment
- Flexible to travel to SEI offices sponsor sites conferences and offsite meetings
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a Department of War security clearance
- Legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States
- At least 75% onsite effort in an SEI or customer facility
- Understanding of the DoW Systems Engineering lifecycle and Digital Engineering capabilities
- Familiarity with embedded software and firmware safety standards such as MIL-STD-882E DO-178C or DO-254
- Proficiency in C C++ Ada or firmware languages such as VHDL or Verilog
- Experience with embedded software built using real time operating systems like VxWorks
- Experience with embedded software performance tests and interpreting results

Day to day
- Provide embedded software engineering support at customer locations in Huntsville and other sites as needed.
- Analyze software architecture and quality attributes to help shape disciplined trade-off decisions and optimized solutions.
- Advise customers on software development cybersecurity DevSecOps testing and FPGA interface analysis to address difficult engineering problems.
