- Have strong product judgment and know when to ship simple versus deeper reliable solutions
- Be comfortable across React backend APIs databases queues cloud infrastructure and AI systems
- Enjoy speaking with users and using customer discovery as part of engineering
- Take responsibility for outcomes bugs production issues and adoption after launch
- Have founder early-stage startup side-project or open-source experience showing initiative and resourcefulness
- Learn new tools quickly and show strong fundamentals plus ownership
- Experience with AWS services such as ECS Lambda RDS S3 CloudWatch
- Experience with Next.js
- Experience with Spring Boot and/or FastAPI
- Exposure to Generative AI LLMs RAG systems AI agents or AI-powered products
- Experience with Docker Kubernetes CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation
- Familiarity with compliance governance security risk or regulated industries
- Experience working in an early-stage startup environment

Day to day
- Own major product areas from first customer conversation to production across the full stack and AI systems
- Build reliable GLUE and API layers that move lab instrument and scientific data into Scispot
- Create AI agents and grounded retrieval experiences that help scientists query sample journeys and automate lab workflows
- Improve search memory recommendations integrations telemetry and reliability while turning one-off solutions into reusable platform capabilities
