Remote Full Stack Engineer Job in London, UK dmg media

Who you are

• 5+ years with WordPress development
• Understanding of the WordPress and Gutenberg ecosystem and development best practices
• Experience creating custom Gutenberg blocks, custom RSS feeds, and WP-JSON API endpoints
• Expertise with modern performant HTML, CSS, and PHP
• Expertise with front-end JavaScript and React and experience of Node.js and server-side JavaScript
• Strong understanding of Git and VCS principles
• Knowledge of Agile methodology and project planning tools like JIRA
• Capability to manage full-stack projects from start to finish
• Understanding and knowledge of Core Web Vitals and their importance
• Excellent communication skills for remote work within a distributed team
• Understanding of Chrome DevTools to debug front end issues
• Strong problem-solving skills

Desirables

• Experience with the WordPress VIP platform
• Enterprise experience building WordPress at scale – Edge and object Caching, Query optimization and WP Cron
• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as New Relic and Kibana
• Experience with Typescript / Webpack
• Knowledge and use of WP-CLI and creating custom commands
• Integrating and using AWS services (S3, Lambda, EC2, API Gateway)
• Knowledge and experience of developing for and publishing to AMP and Apple News
• Knowledge and use of CI tools such as CircleCI, GitHub Actions and TeamCity
• Experience writing bash or python scripts on an ad-hoc basis
• Interest and experience with Generative AI
• Willingness to travel to London, if viable, for team meet-ups at the office every other month

What the job involves

• Deliver new features, functionality and maintenance for enterprise-level WordPress sites and related services
• Focus on product development and maintenance for iNews, but occasionally work on shared services that support other sister brands
• Create and advance new ideas within an established technology team
• Build and create software that is highly effective and purpose-built, without the typical burdens of traditional enterprise-level organisations
• Participate in discussions about technology choices based on business value, scalability, maintainability and project delivery performance
• Debug and troubleshoot website issues raised by our editorial and support staff
