Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • 7+ years experience designing developing shipping and maintaining backend applications using Python and front-end web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks ideally React
  • Proven experience leading a squad including planning prioritising running ceremonies reviewing output and ensuring on-time high-quality delivery across time zones
  • Strong experience working with both Python and React and some experience with AWS hosting back-end services
  • Significant experience using agentic coding tools
  • Experience designing building and maintaining automated tests and contributing to CI pipelines
  • Experience working in agile set-ups such as sprints stand-ups and retros
  • Experience debugging and fixing live incidents under pressure and improving systems to prevent recurrences
  • Experience with continuous deployment pipelines and improving such setups
  • Strong understanding of security application performance and scalability best practices
  • Strong ownership attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in technical leadership
  • Proactive and willing to initiate improvements and assist others
  • Comfortable using AI code development tooling
  • Right to work in the UK

Day to day

  • Own end-to-end solution design for new features within a defined architecture framework and make pragmatic trade-offs across scope performance scalability and security
  • Act as the day-to-day technical and delivery lead for a small squad by breaking down requirements into tasks estimating effort setting priorities and tracking progress to keep delivery on time
  • Take hands-on ownership of complex high-impact work across Python React and Flutter while writing high-quality testable code and improving CI/CD pipelines
  • Drive technical improvement across architecture observability resilience and developer experience while collaborating closely with founders in a fast-moving scaling environment
