Requirements
- 8+ years of experience with software development and architecture using Ruby/Rails
- Experience or interest in building tooling for engineering colleagues
- Experience in Ruby, Rails, architecture, developer tooling, asynchronous processing
- Agile and lean software development

Day to day
- Work on developer productivity improvements at the core of Gusto's main applications. Ensure applications are up-to-date and use effective architecture. Collaborate with various teams to develop end-to-end product experiences for complex customer needs.
- Ideate solutions, pitch, plan, measure, and implement them iteratively. Create leverage for product engineering through services, abstractions, and architecture.
- Maintain a close connection with product engineering colleagues to anticipate changes.
- Seek out and solve inefficiencies in tooling, APIs, and feedback mechanisms to improve productivity.
