Requirements

  • Hands-on experience provisioning and managing Amazon EC2 at scale including AMI creation and lifecycle management
  • Experience with instance types Auto Scaling groups and EBS volume management
  • Understanding of EC2 networking fundamentals including security groups elastic IPs and placement groups
  • Strong Linux administration experience with RHEL CentOS Amazon Linux or Ubuntu
  • Comfortable with user and permissions management systemd services log management and performance troubleshooting
  • Experience with shell scripting for automation and operational tasks
  • Experience with OS patching hardening and vulnerability remediation
  • Led or contributed to at least one on-premises to AWS migration project
  • Experience with migration assessment wave planning and cutover execution
  • Comfortable working with legacy infrastructure and minimizing risk during transition

Day to day

  • Plan and execute lift-and-shift migrations of on-premises servers to Amazon EC2, ensuring workloads are prepared for cutover and production readiness
  • Build, maintain, and standardize custom AMIs, EC2 configurations, and Auto Scaling groups for migrated applications
  • Administer Linux servers by provisioning, patching, tuning performance, troubleshooting issues, and hardening systems to meet security and compliance baselines
  • Configure supporting cloud networking and security for EC2 workloads, automate provisioning with scripting and configuration tools, and document runbooks and operating procedures
