Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience building and operating production systems at scale
  • Strong proficiency in Python or another backend language with willingness to learn Python
  • Strong experience designing building and operating event-driven architectures using messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka
  • Proven track record of designing delivering and owning significant backend systems from conception through to production
  • Strong understanding of system design distributed systems scalability reliability performance and observability
  • Experience working with PostgreSQL and caching technologies such as Redis
  • Comfortable building and operating cloud-native applications on AWS
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of problems end-to-end driving solutions from discovery and design through implementation deployment and ongoing operation
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with experience working closely with product design and engineering stakeholders
  • A pragmatic approach to software engineering balancing technical excellence with delivering value to customers

Day to day

  • Own backend services from design through monitoring and maintenance for a fast-moving product
  • Build clean efficient and well-documented APIs that power web and mobile applications
  • Contribute to architecture code quality and continuous delivery while collaborating across engineering and product teams
