Requirements

  • Significant experience in level design on AAA titles
  • Experience at Senior level with a shipped title
  • Broad knowledge of game and level design
  • Strong understanding of layout, architectural composition, combat, encounter design, balancing, flow, difficulty, progression, usability
  • Passion for creating fun and accessible games
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Experience in scripting gameplay and levels, ideally in Blueprint
  • Experience in games development with a shipped action or action/adventure title on console or PC
  • Ability to take direction and feedback well
  • Experience with UE4/UE5 an advantage

Day to day

  • Design and build high quality levels that support the vision and creative pillars of the game
  • Iterate on feedback from the Design Director, lead level designer, other disciplines, and user research
  • Collaborate with gameplay coders and environment artists to ensure they are involved in the level design process
  • Follow level design best practices and suggest workflow improvements
  • Maintain stability and quality of work throughout development
  • Verify task estimations and deliver work to deadlines
  • Mentor junior level design team members
  • Play the game regularly and provide feedback
  • Encourage a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and respect
