Burq is a last-mile delivery infrastructure for teams that need reliability at scale without stitching together carriers, tools, and manual exception handling.

Burq’s AI layer, Pulse AI, powers specialized agents across the delivery lifecycle that read real-time signals, detect risk early, and trigger actions that protect on-time performance, cost, and customer experience.

With Burq, teams can quote and select the best option per order; orchestrate dispatch across in-house and third-party fleets; automate routing, batching, and workflow decisions; resolve exceptions fast (reroutes, recovery, refunds/credits); send brand-safe customer updates; and surface performance insights that make reliability and cost drivers clear.

Built for enterprise and high-growth operators across grocery, floral, specialty retail, and more. Learn more at burqup.com.

Burq

AI-powered last-mile delivery infrastructure to keep deliveries in rhythm.

Burq started with an ambitious mission: to turn the complex process of offering delivery into a simple, turnkey solution. It's a big mission, and now we want you to join us in making it even bigger. 🚀

We're proud to be recognized as one of and a , awards that highlight how we're redefining the future of logistics while empowering our partners to grow.

Backed by leading Silicon Valley investors like Village Global, the fund whose investors include Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Reid Hoffman, and Sara Blakely, we've built a world-class team across the globe.

We operate at scale but remain small enough for every person to have a massive impact. There's a lot of important work ahead, and joining Burq means the opportunity to grow faster than ever while doing the most meaningful work of your career.

Requirements

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to be the founding member of Burq's Platform team — the function that owns our engineering foundations: infrastructure, security, CI/CD, and reliability.

Right now, our infrastructure runs on AWS with a combination of ECS, RDS, ElastiCache, SQS, and Step Functions. We have a strong contractor advising us, but we need a full-time engineer who can own this domain, execute on a significant infrastructure roadmap, and make every product team faster as a result.

This is a high-leverage, high-ownership role. You will be designing and building the platform that Burq scales on for the next several years.

Infrastructure

Own and execute the AWS account split — separating production, staging, and development into clean isolated environmentsLead the Aurora DB production migration with support from our infrastructure advisorManage and evolve our ECS Fargate services, RDS clusters, ElastiCache, SQS queues, and ALB configurationOwn Terraform — infrastructure as code, not click-ops

Security & Access

Harden IAM — developer permission sets, production access controls, least-privilege enforcementAudit and lock down public S3 bucketsEnable AWS Config and Security Hub across all accountsOwn SOC 2 Type 2 readiness maintenance in partnership with SprintoCoordinate external penetration test cadence

CI/CD & Developer Experience

Own and improve our GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines — build times, test reliability, deployment velocityBuild out PR stack environments so product teams can test independentlyDrive the local development stack initiative — Docker Compose-based environments that replace shared preprodIntegrate AI-assisted testing into the CI pipeline

Observability & Reliability

Own CloudWatch dashboards spanning ALB, ECS, RDS, ElastiCache, SQS, and target group healthLead post-incident reviews and ensure every incident produces a runbook entryPartner with product teams to distribute platform work as a standing sprint allocation — not a separate queue

Requirements

5+ years of engineering experience with 3+ years focused on infrastructure and platform engineeringDeep AWS expertise — ECS, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, SQS, Lambda, account architectureTerraform proficiency — you write infrastructure as code and know why it mattersStrong CI/CD background — GitHub Actions, deployment pipelines, environment managementSecurity-minded — you know how to harden systems without creating friction for product engineersExperience with observability tooling — CloudWatch, Datadog, or equivalen
