African Diaspora United for Development (ADUD) is a U.S.-based, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that mobilizes the knowledge, experience, talents, resources, and networks of the African diaspora to create opportunities, strengthen communities, and advance social and economic development.

ADUD connects individuals, families, professionals, entrepreneurs, volunteers, community leaders, organizations, businesses, educational institutions, and public-sector partners across the United States, Africa, and the broader global diaspora.

Our work is guided by four interconnected frameworks:

H.E.L.P. — Helping; Educating, Encouraging and Empowering; Leading Impactful Initiatives; and Promoting Philanthropy and Unity.
U.P.L.I.F.T. — Unity • Preeminence • Leadership • Impact • Fellowship • Transformation
C.L.I.P.S. — Connect • Learn • Invest • Partner • Serve
M.O.R.E. — Mobilize • Organize • Represent • Elevate

Through programs and initiatives including Getting Settled, the NEXUS Ecosystem, the ADUD H.E.A.L.I.N.G. Initiative — Veterans Global Holistic & Integrative Health Bridge, youth and community-development initiatives, diaspora civic engagement, mentorship, professional and entrepreneurial development, volunteer service, and international partnerships, ADUD works to expand access to education, information, resources, networks, leadership, and economic opportunity.

We support youth, families, professionals, entrepreneurs, community leaders, Veterans, and emerging changemakers while strengthening connections between African diaspora communities and communities and institutions across Africa.

ADUD is inclusive, collaborative, service-oriented, and committed to turning connection into action.

African Diaspora United for Development (ADUD)

Connecting the African diaspora to HELP, UPLIFT, create opportunity & strengthen communities across the U.S. and Africa.

This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.

ADUD needs a practical UX and content-architecture package to make its website easier to navigate, more accessible, responsive and maintainable. The consultant will translate ADUD’s approved organizational direction, audience needs and available website-assessment findings into a clear sitemap, navigation structure, user journeys, page templates and content model. This is the second of three coordinated website projects. The selected consultant may coordinate with the Website Assessment & Relaunch Roadmap consultant and the separate Website Redesign, Improvement & Development consultant through limited review meetings and handoffs. Project 1 findings may be used when available, but this project should validate its own assumptions and should not wait indefinitely for another consultant. The work must fit the existing CMS and hosting environment. It is not an automatic replatforming, coding or production-migration assignment. This is Project 2 of 3 in ADUD’s coordinated website relaunch, following the Website Assessment & Relaunch Roadmap project. It converts approved findings, organizational direction and audience needs into the UX, information-architecture and content-architecture deliverables required for Project 3. Project 2 may begin using available assessment materials and must validate its own assumptions; it should not wait indefinitely for another consultant. The selected consultant will coordinate with Projects 1 and 3 through limited review and handoff meetings, while retaining separate deliverables and responsibilities.

By the end of this project, the consultant will deliver an approved ADUD Website UX, Information Architecture & Content Architecture Package. Specific deliverables will include:

A concise summary of priority audiences, user needs, key tasks and major barriers. An approved sitemap, navigation structure, labels and recommended cross-linking approach. Priority user journeys for volunteers, partners, donors, program participants, media and internal content owners. Reusable page-template and content-type recommendations for ADUD programs, initiatives, news, events, publications and The Voice of the African Diaspora®. A priority content inventory identifying material to retain, revise, archive, redirect or defer. A practical content and migration map for the implementation consultant. Accessibility, responsive-design and editor-maintainability requirements. A review session and editable handoff package for the implementation consultant. Success means ADUD has a clear, usable and implementable structure for the website, with approved navigation, content types, page templates and migration priorities. The project excludes CMS coding, website development, production migration, full copywriting, production launch, ongoing content management, social-media management, document-control system design, the organization-wide relaunch roadmap, legal advice and final institutional decisions.

African Diaspora United, Inc. Mission: ADUD is a non-partisan, non-profit organization created to ultimately empower African diaspora communities worldwide, by engaging and partnering with individuals, businesses, agencies, and institutions in a collaborative effort to heavily contribute to the educational and social development of Africa and to build a stronger community. The vision of ADUD is to improve the partnership opportunities for our African diaspora communities, so that together we can stand strong to address the social and educational issues and lacks in Africa. ADUD staff and trained volunteers will educate, connect people to resources and encourage community collaboration addressing subtopics including but not limited to health, youth, families, welfare and community development. Our programs are developed in direct response to community need. In a global view, ADUD understands that for all of the reasons, whether it be for the pursuit of increased economic and civil stability, for increased health well-being, or if it is to embark on a new job or join a loved one, the African Diaspora target community in this 21st Century, consists of people of African origin living outside their country of origin, irrespective of their current citizenship and nationality, who are willing to contribute to the development of Africa, starting with their local community. Through our principal pillars Help, Educate, Lead, and Promote Philanthropy (H.E.L.P.), we assist our local diaspora communities by connecting people to resources here and abroad by offering specialized educational programs and projects, by offering various workshops on awareness of community needs and integration, healthy living, etc. and other educational trainings, coordinating social and professional networking events, and providing organized opportunities to give back to our local communities and our countries.
