The Safety Net Foundation is a volunteer-led Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to supporting the next generation of health and safety professionals through mentoring, practical experience, learning, and community. We exist to improve social mobility within the profession by helping individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds access the support, opportunities, and professional networks they may not otherwise have. Our mission is simple: to provide the safety net that everyone needs, but not everyone has. Through one-to-one mentoring, CV and career support, free online learning, webinars, workshops, and peer networking opportunities, we help aspiring and developing professionals build the confidence, skills, and knowledge needed to achieve their career goals. Our purpose-built SafeChain platform provides realistic health and safety scenarios and practical exercises, allowing mentees to develop real-world skills in a safe learning environment. We also create opportunities for hands-on work experience through supervised projects and placements. As part of our commitment to giving back, mentees can apply their learning by supporting charities, community groups, and other non-profit organisations with health and safety projects that might otherwise be beyond their resources. This creates valuable experience for developing professionals while helping organisations improve their safety management and governance.
