About Slate

Slate is a new US Electric Vehicle company transforming the battery electric vehicle space.

What we are looking for:

A team-first design leader who loves making complicated things simple, simple things interesting, and everything beautiful. In this player-coach role, you'll lead the design process by example – generating ideas and crafting visual executions across a range of materials and media. We're a startup, so you'll need to be comfortable coming up with overarching concepts for campaigns, events, social and more, as well as rolling up your sleeves to help bring them to life visually. Everything from type guidelines to table tents will be in your domain. We're looking for someone who takes the work seriously but not themselves.

As our Brand Design Lead, you will lead brand design initiatives and report directly to the Head of Creative. If you're the type of person who bristles at bad type and reflexively redesigns things in your mind, but also knows when good is good enough, this is an incredible opportunity to make your mark.

What you get to do:

Work directly with brand leadership to define, refine, and evolve our brandDevelop creative concepts that break through the marketing clutter and drive resultsPartner with Head of Creative to support the vision of projects and effectively communicate that vision internallyMentor and manage creative team members to ensure the work is on-brand and top-notch Steward deliverables and act as quality control from concept through production Conceptually bring the brand to life through an array of digital and physical executions Brainstorm campaign concepts, stunts, and brand acts that extend to experiential and digital channelsCollaborate closely with the social and production team to develop and execute content Design everything from collateral to swag to digital templates to socialBe part of a scrappy creative team who advocates for smart, disruptive ideasPartner with internal stakeholders to steward design standards throughout the organization Be an integral part of a growing creative team that's bringing a new brand to marketManage and organize library of design assets, including photos, illustrations, iconography, templates, etc., to ensure efficient workflow and accessibilityStay on top of – and share – great work, inspiration, and industry trends Introduce new trends, approaches and processes that enable us to work more effectively and efficiently 

What you bring to the team:

Bachelor's degree or experience in marketing, advertising, or a related field9+ years of proven brand design experience in-house or at an agencyWorld-class integrated marketing experience and demonstrated ability to concept and execute campaigns Mastery of designing for digital properties including websites, social, CRM and moreIn-depth knowledge of design trends, principles, and techniquesDemonstrated experience managing multiple projects from ideation to production, through post-production and deliveryAble to work both independently and within a highly collaborative environmentA knack for using feedback to make your work even betterExcellent written and oral communication skills as well as presentation skillsExpert in design software including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesignComfort working in Microsoft 365 including Power Point, Word, ExcelColor and typography skills are preferredA love of automotive is helpful but not necessary 

Location:

Remote is acceptable, but we prefer NY Metro (able to commute to NYC if needed), Boston metro, or Troy, MI.



Base Salary: US wide $86,746.68 to $163,543.92.
